Ordering FAQ
(frequently asked questions)

Prices

All prices are quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). These can be easilly converted to US Dollars (USD) by multiplying the NZD by the current exchange rate (eg. 0.70).

Or try the The Universal Currency Converter.

GST

All prices are quoted excluding GST. This is a local "Goods and Services Tax" of 15% which is not charged on goods leaving New Zealand.

Minimum Order Value

It takes time to sort, pack, ship and paperwork all orders and our margins are low. As component sales are not our main business I've decided to introduce two minimum order values.

  • $15.00 NZD for orders paid by cash or deposit directly into our bank account.

  • $30.00 NZD for other forms of payment.

The logic behind this: 99% of lower value sales go to customers within NZ. Payment by internet banking or deposit at a branch is now an acceptable option for most people. Sales outside of NZ are less frequent and generally of higher value per order. The Bank charges a large percentage on credit card sales. As the number of card sales and average value declines the percentage goes up. On low value credit card sales we end up paying most of profit to the bank. According to the rules we are not allowed to charge extra just for credit card sales, so I've introduced a lower minimum order value for instant payments such as cash and bank deposit.

Infomation Security

All information supplied to PMB will be kept confidential and secure.
Credit card numbers are not kept on file except where required for banking records which are stored securely.

How to Order

To place an order, we need to know a few things, like:

  • Your name, address and contact details

  • Delivery address. Where you want the order delivered
  • Delivery method. Shipping. How you want the order sent
  • What you want to purchase
  • How you want to pay for it

Name, Address and Contact

This is required so that we know who you are and how to get in touch. Email is the prefered method of communication. We cannot deal exclusively with PO Box or Private Bag addresses.

You must provide full and accurate information. An email alias will not do.

Delivery Address

It must be a street address.

Please provide the address as it should appear on the package. If you give us an incomplete address there is a chance it will not arrive.

Couriers won't deliver to a PO Box or Private Bag etc.

Delivery Method (Shipping)

There are a few options. The faster the delivery the more it costs.
We use Courier within New Zealand and AirPost or Courier outside of New Zealand.

A Rural Delivery charge of $4.00 +gst will be applied to courier deliveries to rural addresses. Please let us know if you are RURAL when ordering.

NOTE: Air-Post International cannot be tracked. For tracking it must go by Express which is by Courier, and more expensive.

See below for more info.

Order Items

Simply fill in the order form with the details and quantities of each item required.

Payment Method

For local orders (within New Zealand) we prefer direct bank deposit but we also accept Mastercard, Visa, Cheque and purchase orders from established companies, government departments and schools.

For overseas orders we accept Mastercard and Visa. It is also possible to make international funds transfers (telegraphic transfer), but check the cost with your bank first, it can be expensive.

Secure Order Form

There is a secure order form HERE

Before you start filling in the blanks, please read the rest of this page.

We would prefer that you use this form.
It is the best way to ensure that we get all the information needed to accurately process your order.

See notes below if you would prefer not to submit a credit card number on-line.

Delivery (Shipping)

All local orders will be sent by local Courier unless otherwise specified.

All overseas orders of less than $1000.00 NZD in value will be sent by AirPost International unless otherwise specified. If the value exceeds $250.00 NZD an additional charge will be made to cover the additional insurance (contact us for details).

Local Delivery (inside New Zealand)

  • Courier delivery is prefered. It is usually overnight and it's a lot quicker for us because we don't have to package and then deal with the complexities of NZ Post.

International Delivery (outside New Zealand)

  • CourierPost International (Express) is reasonably quick (up to 5 days) but is expensive and is a more complex to arrange at this end.

  • AirPost International is the best value but is not as quick as it used to be. Before increased boarder security was introduced a package to the US would take about 6 days. It now takes 10 or more days.
  • Economy Post International is quite slow (typically less than 40 days) but cheaper still.

We recommend Air Post International as being the best cost verses speed.

General Notes

Email

An exchange of E-Mail messages helps build confidence. I am quite happy to answer any questions or help in any way I can. I really enjoy getting email messages. It's just like Christmas.

Fax

I would prefer that most communication be by email. This includes enquiries, orders and support. Fax is also acceptable for sending credit card details (see next section).

Quantity Discounts

The listed prices indicate discounts and quantity breaks. For significantly larger orders contact us by email .

Alternatives for sending your credit card numbers

Some people are unsure about submitting credit card information on-line. We do prefer to receive a submitted secure order form that includes all details. It makes it much easier and quicker to process and despatch your order. I believe that submitting a secure form is no less safe than using you card in a shop, and probably a lot safer than using it in a situation where you loose sight of the card, such as a restaurant.

If you are not convinced, there are a number of alternatives:

  1. Select "Phone/Fax Card Number" for Payment Method, Submit the form without the credit card details. Then telephone or fax the details through.

  2. If we already have your credit card details on file, simply select "Card on File" for Payment Method, and the Card Type. Do not enter the other card details, then Submit the form. Please make sure that the expiry date is still valid.

  3. You can complete this form (including credit card details) then print it. It can then be posted to the address at the top of the form, or faxed to PMB.

  4. Encrypted email is another option. PGP can be used to encrypt an email. Public key is here.

Check in foreign funds

Please don't send a cheque or money order in foreign funds. It can take four to six weeks for a foreign cheque to clear. These will be returned to sender.

Telegraphic Transfer and Proforma Invoices

International Funds Transfer

For payment by Telegraphic Transfer we will provide an invoice by email that includes our bank details for funds transfer. There is no additional chanrge.

Proforma Invoice:

A Proforma Invoice contains Our Company details and all the details of your proposed purchase. Effectively giving you everything required to make a final decision and the correct payment.

Import Duty, Taxes and GST

The Importer is responsible for Import Duty, that's you. All packages leaving New Zealand containing more than just documents, must have a Customs Declaration that accurately describes the contents of the package and states the Value in NZD. There must also be an Invoice attached.

Generally the description will say "Electronic Components", "electronic modules" or similar..

GST

All prices are quotes excluding GST. This is a local "Goods and Services Tax" which is not charged on goods leaving New Zealand.
